\nIn\nline with the project\u2019s main objective to build on currently\nundiscovered potential in the Jewish cultural heritage of cities, and\ndevelop contemporary tourism solutions, as a start of the thematic\nactivities of the project, a community focused survey of tangible and\nintangible Jewish heritage portfolios of each participating partner\ncity is to be created. To accomplish it, a participatory approach is\napplied, with a strong emphasis on local stakeholders\u2019\nparticipation in the process. To mobilize local stakeholders, project\npartners of the REDISCOVER project held Stakeholder Meetings locally\nbetween 1 November 2018 and 20 December 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nDuring\nthe stakeholder meetings local stakeholders had the opportunity to\nget acquainted with the most important activities, outputs and\nobjectives of the project. Also, the importance of local stakeholder\ngroups, their involvement right from the initial stage was\nemphasised, and the role stakeholders played during project\nimplementation was outlined as their key members actively taking part\nin the dissemination of results and multiplying existing knowledge\nand experience or new ideas. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nAmong\nthe members of the local stakeholder group a wide range of\nprofessionals and stakeholders are represented, including local\ngovernments, tourism organizations, experts, local bodies responsible\nfor preserving cultural heritage, representatives of the local\nchambers of commerce, members and prominent figures of the local\nJewish Community. A very first instance of the significance of the\nlocal stakeholder group in shaping the project was the role it played\nin deciding on the theme of Personal History Files, which is a series\nof social media posts on visions, ambitions and key members of the\nlocal stakeholder group. During the local stakeholder meetings an\nimportant issue was to determine who the prominent figure to be\ninterviewed should be. Among the interviewees we can find outstanding\nmembers of the local Jewish Communities, experts with deep knowledge\nrelated to Jewish Cultural Heritage, practicing tourism\nprofessionals. During\nthe meeting, work started to lay the foundations of the local\nrepository of Jewish Cultural Heritage by discussing methodological\naspects. A key issue in it was to determine the main categories along\nwhich tangible and intangible heritage elements will be enumerated,\nand city level inventories shall be compiled. In general, we can find\nsynagogues, cemeteries, other sacral buildings, residential\nbuildings, schools and social institutions among tangible heritage\nelements, although the main focus is on the intangible, so far hidden\ncultural heritage elements, like songs, music, dance, literature,\ncuisine, crafts, sciences, testimonies, oral history, legacy of\noutstanding personalities. In many cases, a tremendous amount of\ninformation is available related to local Jewish Cultural Heritage,\nwhich makes an appraisal system to evaluate their tourism potential\nalso necessary. Local repositories will eventually form the basis of\na joint, web-based tourism service and attraction portfolio available\nfor the general public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
